October Needs: Cereal and Canned Fruit

About the Brighton Food Depot

What we do: We collect food from local churches, civic groups, and anyone willing to give to those who need a helping hand with food.

Who we are: The Brighton Food Depot is a community gathering house for boxed and canned goods for the communities of Brighton and Pittsford, and the city of Rochester.

When and Where: Located in the basement of the First Baptist Church of Rochester, the BFD is open most Tuesdays to receive food from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. or by appointment at other times. Call ahead to confirm.

Why we do it: To help our neighbors in need. From September through May with our Backpack program, we supply 1000 items (100 bags of 10 items each) to elementary children in need who attend a Rochester City School.

Volunteer

There are many ways to volunteer. You may pack food, inventory and organize receipts, start a food drive, clean, write letters. Please consider giving back to your community.

Food Drives

Anyone may start a food drive! The Youth of First Baptist-Rochester have an annual drive called Souper Bowl of Caring where they raise money and collect canned and boxed goods to support the BFD Backpack program.

Specific kid friendly items we like to collect include: vegetables, spaghetti sauce, boxed pasta, low-sugar cereal, peanut butter, jelly, mac n cheese, entree (any canned food with meat), canned fruit, and soup.

Thank you for your generous and ongoing food donations.
We truly appreciate your support.
