Cameron Community Ministries (CCM) was founded in 1984 as a joint effort by the American Baptist Churches of the Rochester/Genesee Region and the Presbytery of Genesee Valley. The two denominations utilized the former Lyell Avenue Baptist Church facility to provide outreach services to a neighborhood in need. The first programs were hospitality and food for seniors, which grew to a daily free hot lunch program. Children's programs after school and in the summer have been offered for many years. In 1994, CCM became the first Kids Cafe site in Rochester. CCM took over the Clothing Closet from Lake Avenue Baptist Church in 1984.

Volunteers at the First Baptist Church of Rochester take an active part in helping Cameron achieve their mission of providing programs for neighborhood residents that give:

  • School-age children and their families educational and recreational experiences to build life-skills and positive values in a structured, safe and nurturing environment,
  • Meals to the hungry, and
  • Clothing to those in need.

The First Baptist Church of Rochester is active with Cameron Community Ministries by providing food, clothes, knitted items and hygiene kits. If you would like to volunteer or join us in this important ministry, please contact the Church Office at 244-2468.
