Heifer International

Periodically, the Youth and Children of the church will bring their change and dollars for Church School Offerings to support the purchase of animals through Heifer International to improve the lives of individuals and families. We have in the past purchased chicks, ducks, bees, bunnies, pigs, sheep, and a cow.

Heifer International supplies needed animals to help individuals sustain themselves and earn additional money. The old saying goes, Give a man a fish, feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, feed him for a lifetime. Heifer demonstrates this philosophy which the Youth and Children of First Baptist Rochester fully support.

Several years ago, many of our youth and children embarked on a long weekend trip to the Heifer Farm in Massachusetts where they learned first-hand what it was like to live without many of the basic items that we all tend to take for granted. They worked on the farm and earned their way. It was a great experience for everyone.
