Our Sunday Worship Service

On Sunday mornings, we invite you to join us at First Baptist Church to worship our Lord, for the scriptures tell us in John 4:23 "But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father seeks such as these to worship him."

At 9:55 AM, the church family and friends gather in the sanctuary as the musicians play, to reflect, and meditate in preparation for worship. Worship begins after the chiming of the hour, at 10:00 AM, and concludes following the postlude. We have a traditional service with a few contemporary elements. Our music ranges from classical to spirituals, from contemporary to traditional.

We are a praying community. In prayers we confess our need for God, our yearning to be more faithful to Him and our earnest desire to be more like Christ in the way we live our lives. We ackowledge the mystery of being drawn into God's future, as well as the profound difference between God's point of view and our own. The Pastor incorporates the concerns and celebrations of the congregation, provided to him in advance or through sharing our needs. This brings us ultimately to a point of silence, wherein all are invited to pray in his or her own way.

We have a dedicated staff of workers who nurture and provide lessons, songs, crafts, a snack and lots of tender loving care for our infants and toddlers. The nursery is available from 9:30 AM through the conclusion of second hour classes or special church events of the day.
